Energus and the International Atomic Energy Agency Formalise Partnership to Expand Global Opportunities for Nuclear Graduates
Energus and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have formally signed an agreement enabling the Agency to become an official secondment host for the Nuclear Graduates programme, marking a significant step forward in international collaboration on nuclear skills development.
The agreement was signed in Vienna by Nicola Bacon, Energus’ Head of People, Skills & Strategic Partnerships, alongside IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Management.
This new partnership will create valuable international secondment opportunities for Nuclear Graduates, providing hands-on experience within one of the world’s most influential nuclear organisations. Graduates will gain exposure to areas including programme management, nuclear safety and security, capacity building, and international cooperation, broadening both their technical capability and global perspective.
The Nuclear Graduates programme, delivered by Energus on behalf of the NDA, is widely recognised as a sector-leading development scheme, designed to build the next generation of nuclear professionals. The addition of the IAEA as a secondment host further strengthens the programme’s international reach and reinforces the UK’s role in contributing expertise to the global nuclear community.
Nicola Bacon said:
“The IAEA recognises the importance of investing in early careers on the international stage. I am proud that they have recognised the talent that exists within the Nuclear Graduates programme and want to collaborate with Energus to give our graduates the best opportunities that exist in Vienna. Our first graduate commences their placement in April, and we will work hard with the British Embassy in Vienna and the IAEA to create an amazing placement.”
The collaboration reflects the NDA’s continued commitment to investing in world-class people and skills, while positioning UK nuclear capability on the international stage. It also demonstrates Energus’ ongoing role in creating innovative development pathways that equip emerging leaders with the experience, insight and networks needed to thrive in a globally connected sector.
As the nuclear industry continues to evolve, partnerships such as this ensure that future leaders are prepared not only to meet domestic challenges, but to contribute meaningfully to international cooperation, safety and innovation.
