Women in Nuclear Global Conference Reflections

Five graduates from the NDA group had the exciting opportunity to attend the 32nd Women in Nuclear (WiN) Global Annual Conference, recently held in London. Among them was Shannon Rothwell, NGA group Finance, Audit and Risk graduate, who says she is “still feeling inspired” from the experience.
The conference aimed to revolutionise the narrative surrounding the nuclear industry, to transform perceptions, foster understanding, and secure the global future of nuclear power.
The event was a safe space for open dialogue, bringing together an audience with an interest in nuclear from across the globe.
Reflecting on her experience, Shannon said it was “an incredible few days of learning, networking, and thought-provoking conversations.”
The theme of the conference was ‘Positively Nuclear’, encouraged a shift towards optimism and progress across the industry. Attendees had the opportunity to:

Shannon highlighted several standout moments from the event, including:
- A keynote speech from Dame Kelly Holmes, retired athlete and founder and president of the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.
- The ‘Debunking Myths’ panel – which challenged perceptions around Nuclear and sparked impactful conversations.
- The ‘Fearless Female’ workshop which was filled with practical takeaways Shannon stated she would continue to practice.
She described the conference as “spectacular” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to attend, grow, and contribute to a more diverse and inclusive nuclear industry.
