A program designed to help teenagers like you explore their passion for technology and get a taste of the exciting world of cyber security!
Launched in May 2016, and inspired and led by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), a part of GCHQ, CyberFirst is a programme of opportunities helping young people explore their passion for tech by introducing them to the world of cyber security. We’re not here just for the genius coders either; we’re open to all sorts of tech and computing passions.
Live streamers with their own gaming vlogs. Instagrammers who could find the perfect angle in their sleep. You really don’t have to be fluent in Javascript to be the kind of mind we need.

Who are The Cyberists?
Cyberists are intrigued by unexplored technology, dedicated to fulfilling a bigger role in society. Keen to protect friends, families, communities and commerce. Determined to make an impact. Eager to learn and never let up.They are our new generation of cyber security experts. As technology enhances more and more of our daily life, Cyberists will be the ones who will safeguard it from all manner of threats. Cyber security roles are constantly evolving, consistently challenging and crammed with potential. They could be anybody – and they could come from anywhere. To help find them, support them and train them, the NCSC (National Cyber Security Centre) has created CyberFirst.
Why Is Cyber Security So Important?
In our modern world, it’s rare to see someone without their phone in hand and computers have made many tasks easier. We rely on technology for so much that cyber security has become an essential part of our lives. With a global shortage of 2.93 million cyber security professionals, there has never been a better time to start training for our CyberFirst world.*Whether you’re checking your heart rate on your smartwatch, shopping online, or sharing your personal information with your doctor or dentist, all that data needs to be safeguarded. That’s where cyber security professionals come in. As our society continues to evolve digitally, the field of cyber security must adapt just as quickly. Cyber security experts have to be agile and able to keep pace with the rapid technical advancements in our world.
This is why they’re so valuable and increasingly in demand. They have an important job to do, but it’s also exhilarating. People, businesses, and institutions all over the UK rely on cyber security professionals, often without even realizing it.
