Energus Leads Ground-breaking Graduate Recruitment Event for Nuclear Sector

Energus, a key player in nurturing talent for the nuclear industry, successfully managed its first ever large-scale recruitment event in Manchester this week, representing both the Nuclear Graduates and NDA group graduate programmes across two days. The event marked a significant milestone, introducing over 600 aspiring professionals to a wide ranging number of prestigious graduate roles across the industry’s leading organisations such as the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority Group (NDA), Rolls-Royce, Environment Agency, Costain, AWE, and Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR).

The attendees experienced a robust assessment process, interactive sessions with industry experts, and explored numerous exhibits revealing the vast potential within the nuclear field. The event also highlighted significant strides in innovation and sustainability, with experts discussing the crucial role of nuclear energy in meeting the UK’s Net Zero objectives and enhancing energy security.

David Peattie, Group Chief Executive Officer of the NDA and day 1 keynote speaker commented on the event:

“It was a real privilege to host so many enthusiastic young people in what I am sure will be the first of many of these events. I wish them all the very best of luck in their careers.

Being part of the NDA group means playing a fundamental role in enabling permanent, positive, long-lasting change for future generations. It’s estimated that as many as 40,000 new roles will be available in the sector by 2030 so the nuclear industry is growing. It’s a fantastic time to join the sector, we have a wealth of exciting opportunities – whatever you want to do, you can do it in nuclear.”

The event also featured inspirational talks from Nuclear Graduates alumni and leaders from the NDA group and beyond, including Angharad Rayner and Kiran Basra-Steele, now Site Directors at Nuclear Restoration Services, who detailed their career progressions within the sector and the supportive community they have become part of.

Unique to the Nuclear Graduates and NDA group graduate programmes, administered by Energus, is the provision for three secondments, offering graduates unparalleled industry experience. This approach broadens the scope of professional development across various fields such as engineering, procurement, and cyber security.

The Nuclear Graduates and NDA group graduate programmes are catered to individuals who have achieved a minimum of a 2:2 degree qualification in the past five years. Successful candidates will be embarking on a two-year journey with three distinct placements, fostering an extensive understanding of the nuclear sector.

Energus ensures that both programmes benefits include a starting salary of £30,000, comprehensive travel, relocation, training, and development support, coupled with a generous leave package and additional benefits, such as pension contributions and professional membership fees. A dedicated mentorship programme is also a key feature, designed to support each graduate’s individual growth.

Energus takes pride in powering the Nuclear Graduates and NDA group graduate promgrammes on behalf of the NDA and invites ambitious candidates to explore these opportunities and join the 2025 recruitment cycle.
